Instant Pot Chole | Chana Masala Curry | Indian Chickpea Curry

 

Ingredients:

Cumin seeds – 1 Teaspoon

Whole Garam Masala (Bay leaves, star anise, cinnamon stick, black pepper)

Green Chillies- 3 sliced

Oil – 2 tbsp

Ginger-Garlic paste – 1Tbsp

Salt to taste

Corrainder powder – 1 tbsp

Chole masala -1 tbsp (http://amzn.to/2DLpmea)

Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon

Tomatoes – 2 medium sized,finely chopped

Red Onions – 1 medium sized, chopped

Garbanzo beans/chickpeas – 2 cans (http://amzn.to/2BLaj6Q)

Directions:

1.Turn ‘ON’ Sauté mode, adjust to ‘LOW’, and add oil.Wait for the oil to heat up.

2.Add Cumin Seads and the whole Garam Masala Spices

3.Add Green chillies and onions, and saute them well

4.Add Ginger garlic paste and saute for a few minutes

5.Add Turmeric powder,Corriander powder and Chana masala powder and saute the base mixture well

6.Add Tomatoes and put a glass lid on it till they are well cooked

7.Add Salt to taste, and check the taste at this point.

8.Add the Chana/Garbanzo beans

9.Pour half a cup of water and close with instant pot lid.

10.Switch the IP to Manual Mode, Set to 6 minutes, and make sure whistle is in sealing mode

11.Do a QR, wait till the safety value has dropped, and then open the lid and check if the chana has become soft enough to be easily crushed with a spoon.

12.Garnish with some chopped cillantro.

 

Serve hot with Puris/Rotis/Naans or Rice Serves 4 adults ***********************************************************************
